WITH spring in the air, it’s time to start thinking about giving the home a refresh.
But updating doesn’t mean having to refurbish and redecorate the whole house.
Here’s how to breathe fresh air into your interior for less.
BIG SOFTIE: Cushions and throws are a great way to give your space a quick facelift. You can get round velvet cushions in teal or ochre for £8 at Homebase, while the blush star is reduced from £8 to £4. The store also has a gorgeous bumble bee-printed super-soft throw for £10.
BRUSH UP: A lick of paint can work wonders in freshening up a room. At Wickes, the Dulux Simply Refresh range is reduced from £35 to £28 per 2.5L pot. Check out calm yet uplifting hues, such as Pressed Petal or Tranquil Dawn. Wickes is also running a deal on the Crafted by Crown range, reduced from £30 to £26 for 2.5L.
LIGHT UP: For a pop of colour, consider something bold, such as a red accent lampshade. The made-to-order candle shade (12cm) in Kensington Wine costs £8 at Dunelm. Or check out the pink micro pleat table lamp for £7 from Wilko. Another quick trick to brighten up a room is to change the colour of your lightbulbs.
BEDDING IN: New duvet covers can be a cheap way of updating the colour scheme in the bedroom. Aldi’s easy-care printed duvet set is available in Ditsy Green, Check, Flora and Embroidered Spot. The covers are reversible for an uber-easy restyling job. Prices start from £9.99.
ON THE SHELF: Shelving is a simple means of creating more storage without impinging on your living space. There’s a stylish hexagonal black shelf with mirror for £15 in the George range at Asda.
For a nature-inspired display, add house plants, such as the Peace Lily (13cm), reduced from £6.45 to £3.23 in-store at Homebase. To make your space more homely, add photos. You can get a deep box picture frame down from £11 to £5.50 at Hobbycraft.
