SPICE TIME: First, make your own pumpkin spice using 3 tbsp of ground cinnamon, 2 tsp of ground ginger, 2 tsp nutmeg and 1½ tsp of ground allspice. Keep it in an airtight jar and you can add it to the recipes below.

LATTE LOVE: Skip spending on cafe coffee and make your own pumpkin-spiced latte by heating a cup of milk with a shot of espresso, 1 tsp of sugar and ½ tsp of your spice mix in a saucepan.

Simmer — don’t boil — and stir occasionally before pouring into a mug and sprinkling a dash of spice on top. Skip the espresso and use hot chocolate for kids.

CAKE A BITE: Swap carrot cake for an autumn pumpkin-spiced bake instead.

Add in a tin of pumpkin puree, (£1.60, Sainsbury’s) plus 1 tsp of spice mix.

A dash of the pumpkin spice in cream cheese frosting will work for decor.

SHAKE IT OFF: Autumn pre-drinks should include pumpkin-spiced espresso martinis.
