CosMc’s is a reference to a 1980s McDonald’s advertisement character through part of the 1990s.

The silver alien that craved McDonald’s meals has now inspired the new restaurant concept which is on the verge of completion in Bolingbrook, Illinois.

However, no formal opening date has been sent yet.

Its location was likely chosen because the global headquarters is based in the Windy City.

A handful of CosMc’s restaurants are slated to pop up in ‘a limited geography’ in early 2024.

The news was first dropped by McDonald’s chief executive officer Chris Kempczinski during the second-quarter earnings call this summer.

“CosMc’s is a small-format concept with all the DNA of McDonald’s but its own unique personality,” he said.

McDonald’s said it will disclose more details in an investor’s day conference on December 6 at 10:30 am according to Market Screener.

UNIDENTIFIED FOREIGN MENU

While the chain has yet to confirm what it’ll serve, people passing by have taken to social media to speculate exciting new items on the location’s menu screens.

A TikToker, (@snackolator) who’s dedicated to documenting new snacks has posted multiple videos of the restaurant concept.

His most recent TikTok about CosMc’s refers to the upcoming establishment as the “lovechild of a McDonald’s, Sonic, and Starbucks.”

He originally posted a tour of a construction site in Bolingbrook, Illinois where the restaurant is located and previewed its four drive-through lanes.

He then came back to discuss his thoughts on the menu.

“The kind of conventional thinking is that this is going to be something of a competitor to like Starbucks, where it’s going to focus on the McCafe stuff and the coffee and the drinks as opposed to serving burgers and fries,” he said.

But, that’s likely because the new restaurant concept is being built directly next to an already existing McDonald’s.

The display menu reveals potential but unconfirmed drinks called Signature Galactic Boosts which feature flavors like “Sour Cherry Energy Burst” and “Island Pick-Me Up Punch.”

The menu also shows milk-based slushes and frappes.

CosMc’s also seems to be fulfilling an all-day breakfast demand voiced by consumers who’ve previously slammed McDonald’s for not serving breakfast late enough.

The leaked menu features everything from Egg McMuffins to cookies, brownies, and small bites.

An ice cream that’s only available at the international McDonald’s in Chicago is also on the menu.

This news comes amid recent statements made by Kempczinski expressing the company’s interest in changing its restaurant footprint across the U.S.
