The giveaway is to celebrate World Burrito Day and is said to be the biggest-ever free burrito giveaway in UK history.

It is not the first time the “real California burrito and taco joint” has given away free grub.

Last year it launched the same promotion, and restaurants were packed full, with hoards of people queuing outside.

It proved so popular that this year the Mexican favourite plans to “smash all records” by giving away half a million burritos.

What other ways can I save money when eating out?

While not every restaurant is going to be dishing out free food, there are ways you can save money when you don’t fancy cooking.

Most restaurants or fast food outlets have loyalty schemes that can sometimes mean you get free food or money off depending on how many points you collect.

Often these schemes can also give you early access to special offers and deals before non-loyalty card holders.

Here we have listed some of the most popular fast-food loyalty schemes that could save you some cash.

Subway has a scheme for its loyal customers, however, it recently announced that it is changing things up.

If you are already a Subway customer, you need to take note or you could end up losing out on those precious points.

Currently, Subway’s loyalty scheme allows customers to collect points by scanning their app or card at the till when making a purchase.

For every £1 spent, customers get 10 loyalty points, as long as it is registered on the app.

However, the sandwich chain recently announced that after May 14, the Subway app and rewards card will no longer be valid.

So Subway fans check your points and get them used up before the deadline, you could have a free sub waiting for you.

The McDonald’s loyalty scheme is called the MyMcDonald’s Rewards scheme and was first launched in January 2000.

For every penny you spend, you’ll earn one point. Once you earn 1,500 you can start redeeming your points.

However, it made a big change to its scheme last year, meaning customers can now get more food for free.

The fast food giant introduced a new points milestone within its MyMcDonald’s Rewards scheme.

This means that customers can get four items from its menu for free when they earn a certain amount of points.

We have the full details of the offer, including which items you can get free.

Its rival Burger King also offers loyal customers the chance to collect and redeem points across its restaurants.

BK rewards allow customers to earn 10 points for every £1 spent on the app or in stores.

There is also the chance to upsize certain items and earn points faster during limited-time events.

Nando’s also offers customers the chance to bag some savings, by collecting chillies on the popular restaurant chain’s app.

Fans can get a chill every time they spend £7 or more when eating in, collecting or ordering a Nando’s delivery.

You can then bag a reward, every time you hit three, six and ten chillies.

Remember, as well as saving money through loyalty cards and points, you can also use apps such as Too Good to Go.

Too Good to Go is an app where you can purchase food from restaurants, cafes, shops and supermarkets that would otherwise go to waste.

It is easy to use, you just need to download the app and set your location and it will start bringing up nearby stores listing their food at a reduced price.

Most of the time what you get is potluck, so as long as you are not a fussy eater you can get some great savings.

How to save money eating out

THERE are a number of ways that you can save money when eating out. Here’s how:

Discount codes – Check sites like Sun Vouchers or VoucherCodes for any discount codes you can use to get money off your order.
