FAMILIES have just noticed there’s a way to get their kids free tickets to attractions this summer.

All you need is a Blue Peter Badge – and anyone aged five to 15 can get free entrance to over 200 UK attractions.

Parents can save some money this summer by earning free attraction tickets for their kids.

Sharing to Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, one bargain hunter said: “Just seen if you apply for a blue Peter badge kids age 5-15 get into loads of attractions for free…. 1 child per full paying adult!

“If you apply now get it in time for the summer holidays.”

Others were quick to respond, with one tagging a friend: “This is worth doing and the girls all love doing craft things”.

People on Universal Credit just noticed they can get £1 tickets for days out
12 freebies you can get on Universal Credit and benefits in April - worth up to £9k

And another was surprised entirely: “Wow Blue Peter badges still going after all these years???”

It’s free to request a badge – but you’ll need to get your kid involved.

Firstly, they need to be between five and 15 years old. You’ll need to read and accept all the information on the CBBC website about it too if your child comes up with the idea themselves.

They’ll need to send a creative piece of art to Blue Peter, which might include a poem, story, artwork, model, recipe or a suggestion for the show.

There’s a full list of options on the CBBC website if you’d like to know more.

Once your child has chosen what they want to send, you’ll need to include the following alongside it:

  • your child’s full name
  • their date of birth
  • your home postal address and postcode (not their school address)

You’ll need to send it to: Blue Peter, MediaCityUK, Salford, M50 2BH

Here are a few attractions your child can then visit for free if they receive a Blue Peter Badge through the post thereafter:

  • 1066 Battle of Hastings, Abbey and Battlefield
  • 1620s House and Garden
  • Abbey House Museum
  • Adventure Island
  • Africa Alive Zoological Reserve
  • Anglesey Sea Zoo

You’ll find a full list on the CBBC website.

But make sure they have their badge with them, and you’ll need to be a full paying or concessionary adult to be granted the free ticket.

Other kids freebies

To keep the kids entertained, it’s worth joining your local library so they can read books and use the computers for free.

If you want to keep the kids occupied at home while also stimulating their brains, then Amazon Study could come in handy.

There’s a bunch of free resources like workbooks on maths and science topics for ages five up to 16. You can take a look at what’s available on Amazon Study online.

Also, RHS Gardens is offering £1 tickets to those on certain benefits which might keep your little ones busy for a few sunny days.

You’ll need to be on either Universal CreditPension Credit or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) to get the deal.

There are over 200 gardens across the UK and tickets normally cost £33.95 for a family of two adults and two children.

That means you’d be saving a maximum £29.95 if you bought four tickets.

You can use the £1 discount for as many as six people at once, but you’ll need to show evidence that you receive one of the three benefits upon arrival.

Or if you’re struggling to make ends meet, check with charities if help is available.

Many offer grants to help with household bills, clothing and even holidays.

Martin Lewis and his Money Saving Expert team recommend using online tools to find any grants you might be eligible for.

National charity Turn2Us has a “grant search” function on its website where you can find out what support is available to you.

The Family Holiday Charity helps families get away together during the school break — but a social worker or teacher must refer you.
