One of the most nefarious tricks hackers use to target users is “phishing”.

This involves sending out emails to users impersonating Facebook.

These emails can be highly sophisticated, looking identical to Facebook emails.

Usually they’ll ask you to log in and hand over details, which could result in your Facebook being hacked.

Sometimes these nefarious scammers will ask for bank details too.

Or they’ll use personal info gleaned from your Facebook account to hack into your other logins.

Fortunately, Facebook has a hidden list of all of the emails it’s sent you.

This includes notification emails updating you on what’s going on with your account.

But it also includes security emails, like when you’ve asked for password resets or recovery codes.

The idea is that if you receive a suspicious email from Facebook, you can check it against this list.

The list includes all of the times, dates and subjects, as well as the email address where the message was sent.

If you’re getting emails that appear to be from Facebook but aren’t on that list, it likely means you’re being targeted by phishing attempts.

That means hackers are attempting to break into your account.

This might not be a personal attack – you could just be part of a bulk mailing list used by hackers.

But it’s important to ignore any potential phishing emails.

Avoid opening them if you can, and certainly never click any links or hand over personal information.

A list like this is one of the best defences against phishing, so make sure to check it regularly.

How to find Facebook email list

You can find the list on both desktop and mobile.

On desktop, navigate to Settings and Privacy then go to Settings.

Next choose Security & Login from the menu on the left.

Scroll all the way down and then click See Recent Emails From Facebook.

On iPhone, go to Menu then scroll down to Settings & Privacy.

Open that tab and click Settings.

Then at the top, choose Password and Security.

Scroll down to the bottom of the list and choose See Recent Emails From Facebook.
