Every iPhone owner urged to change these camera settings TODAY

IF you’re a regular iPhone snapper, you should consider diving into your camera settings.

You can instantly improve the quality of photos and videos by making some simple tweaks.

Nothing can replace a great subject, a beautiful setting and brilliant composition.

But if you’re taking photos with the wrong settings, you’re already on the back foot.

We’ve collected some of the best iPhone camera settings to help you on your way to Instagram stardom.

Bear in mind that some of these tricks won’t work if you’re using very old iPhone models.

Change your photo format

First up, check your formats.

You might be using High Efficiency, which is great for reducing file size – but ultimately compresses your images.

But you can instead opt for Most Compatible, which switches from HEVC to JPEG/H.264.

Go into Settings > Camera > Formats and toggle the setting across.

If you’re really into pro shooting, you can also enable Apple ProRAW for photos and Apple ProRes for video on newer iPhone models.

These files will take up significantly more space.

For instance, a minute of ProRes in 4K will take up 6GB – so use it with caution.

Enable HDR video

You can also enable HDR video.

HDR, or High Dynamic Range, helps you capture images with lots of lights and darks.

So imagine a subject in the foreground set against a bright sky.

If you go into Settings > Camera > Record video, you can tweak this.

Boost resolution and frame rate

You can also change the resolution that your camera captures videos at.

This is the number of pixels in the image – packing in more detail.

Go to Settings > Camera > Record Video and choose between options.

You can also select different frame rates, providing a smoother look – although 4K at 24fps is closer to the “cinematic” movie feel than 60fps.

On a brand new iPhone 13 Pro, you’ll have as many as six options:

• 720p HD at 30fps
• 1080p HD at 30fps
• 1080p HD at 60fps
• 4K at 24fps
• 4K at 30fps
• 4K at 60fps

But be warned: you’ll use more storage space with high-resolution, high frame rate footage.

Activate Grid

This is simple, but highly effective.

Grid is really important for when you’re setting up photo composition.

It only appears in the viewfinder, so you won’t see it on your actual photos.

To use it, go to Settings > Camera and then set the Grid toggle to ON, under Composition.

Grid allows use to easily use the “rule of thirds” where you place subjects where the lines meet to make your snaps look better.

Photographic Styles

With the new iPhone 13, Apple introduced Photographic Styles – special “filter-style” camera presets that make your pictures look better.

You choose them before taking a photo, giving your images a fresh and different look.

First up is Standard – the default iPhone option that should work best for most situations.

Then there’s Rich Contrast, which promises “darker shadows, richer colours and strong contrast” for a dramatic look.

Third is Vibrant Style, which offers “wonderfully bright and vivid colours” for what Apple describes as a “brilliant yet natural look”.

Fourth is Warm Style, adding golden undertones for a much warmer photo.

And fifth is the opposite of that – Cool Style – with blue undertones for a colder feel.

go into Settings > Camera > Photographic Styles to change your chosen mode.

Once you’ve selected a Photographic Style, you’ll see it appear in the top-right of the Camera app.

You can tap that to change your Style at any time.
