EE has announced a major Wi-Fi boost for customers, including faster speeds and a brand new enhancement button.
The network provider, which is owned by the BT group, says it wants to put the power of Wi-Fi in the hands of the consumer.
From Friday 19, customers can access EE Full Fibre 1.6Gbps internet, which the company claims is the fastest ‘reliable’ speeds of any major provider in the UK.
Beyond new speeds, new and existing customers will be able to switch over to special Gaming and Work from Home broadband packages.
These packages also include a new Wi-Fi enhancer button, to locally boost connection speeds as and when they’re needed.
The Wi-Fi enhancer is a toggle that will appear under your broadband package in the EE app.

As Christian Thrane, Managing Director of Marketing across EE, BT and Plusnet, explained: “So, when the rest of the house decides that Friday night is their time to stream…
“All you need to do is open the EE app, toggle on Game Mode and your connection is boosted.”
Essentially, switching the toggle on will let EE/BT know which devices you want your bandwidth to prioritise in that moment, be it your gaming console or PC.
It’s designed to minimise arguments over internet speeds, particularly as winter rolls in and there are typically more bodies at home hogging the Wi-Fi.

EE serves more than 25million mobile and broadband customers across the UK.
“Now, we can’t promise an argument free household all the time but we are doing out bit,” CEO of EE Mark Allera added during the announcement today.
It comes at the network provider – like most other major providers in the UK – upgrade their telephone masts and spectrum.
The efforts form part of a wider UK plan to boost full fibre broadband and 5G connection in more rural areas of the country.
