Driving theory tests can strike fear into the hearts of any person learning to take to the wheel of a vehicle.
But one driving instructor is reminding us that just because we’ve passed our tests, doesn’t necessarily mean we remember all there is to know about being safe and responsible on the road.
Pin Binning has been a driving instructor for nearly a decade and has found fame online with quizzing his students on the finer points of the highway code, racking up one million followers and 45 million likes on TikTok alone.

In another shared on TikTok, the instructor asks his followers to pick out which sign signals that pedestrians may be walking along the road
His videos have left even the most seasoned driving scratching their heads with tricky questions on what certain markers on the road mean, the differences between pelican and puffin crossings, vehicle tax applications and the etiquette of the dual carriageway.
In one video, he asks a student the meaning of three red and white markers, which are shown alongside the clip. One of the white signs has three red lines across it, the next two and the third with just one.
The student is initially stumped but the answer soon becomes clear – the markers indicate to the driver that they are approaching a concealed level crossing.
In another clip, he asks his student what ‘kick down’ would be used for in a car with an automatic transition. But, the student gets the answer wrong, and has to be told the correct answer.
And in another shared on TikTok, the instructor asks his followers to pick out which sign signals that pedestrians may be walking along the road, creating chaos in the comments section as followers fought it out over who was right.
The popularity of the videos indicate that many would-be drivers and current drivers still need guidance about the finer points of the code.

Research has revealed that just a third of British drivers would pass their theory test if they took it again today. And a 2018 survey of 2,000 road users suggested that 89 per cent had little or no understanding of road signs and highway rules in place in other European countries.
Italian road signs were found to be the most confusing, followed by those used in Portugal and France.
