PIZZA chain Domino’s risks leaving Italians cheesed off — by launching pasta- inspired lasagne and carbonara versions.

One world-leading chef from the home of the classic foods reckons the idea is crust crazy.

And a fired-up Twitter user said of the combination: “Clearly, Domino’s has declared war on Italy.”

The Ultimate Lasagne pizza combines cheese sauce, ground beef, tomatoes, onion, herbs and mozzarella, topped with a tomato sauce drizzle.

And the Ultimate Carbonara has creamy cheese sauce, smoked bacon, mushrooms and mozzarella.

But Michele Pascarella, crowned Global Pizza Maker of the Year 2023, told The Sun last night: “Italian people would not eat these pizzas.

“If I put this on my menu, my customers would think I was crazy.”

The Naples-born founder of acclaimed pizzeria Napoli in Chiswick, West London, also raged: “There is no mushrooms in a carbonara, no cream in carbonara.

“Bacon? Absolutely not.”

But Domino’s director of innovation Louise Pilkington said: “Nothing says home comforts like classic Italian flavours of lasagne or carbonara.
