Most Americans think their pooches are pampered, but a new report has shared some breeds are more spoiled than others.

A poll of dog owners across the US shows herding dogs, like Australian Shepards, Corgis, and Border Collies, are treated like royalty.

Roughly two-thirds (66 percent) out of the 60 percent of respondents who claimed that they had the ‘world’s most spoiled dog‘ owned a herding breed, according to the poll.

But non-sporting breeds, including Bulldogs, Boston Terriers and Shiba Inus, weren’t far behind: 64 percent of their owners reported that they are convinced their dog is the most lavished upon.

Terriers placed a respectable third, with 59 percent of their owners insisting that their Jack Russell, Scottish or Staffordshire Terrier held the ‘world’s most spoiled’ crown.

Among this top tier of most doted-on breeds, nearly all their owners were in agreement that their dogs lived like royalty at home: 79 percent of herding dog owners, non-sporting breed owners, and terrier owners, equally.

‘Most of us will make the claim our dog is ‘the’ most spoiled dog, but there’s a clear trend pointing towards smaller breeds as being the most doted on,’ according to Yvethe Tyszka, vice president of marketing at Solid Gold Pet, which commissioned the poll.

‘Regardless of size or breed,’ Tyszka told news agency SWNS, ‘all dog owners agree their pups deserve the best with delicious treats, walks, and all of our attention.’

The study, conducted by OnePoll, involved 2,000 dog owners also found that over one in four (28 percent) herding dog owners love to take their dogs with them on vacation for additional spoiling.

Two-thirds of terrier owners reported loving to lavish extra treats on their canine charges throughout the day.

And 29 percent of toy breed owners even admitted to serving their pups high-end bottled or filtered water in their dog bowl.

But working dogs, the poll found, got special treatment as well: 26 percent of their owners report treating their furry friends to meals prepared by hand.

Commissioned by Solid Gold Pet and conducted by OnePoll, the study found that an overwhelming majority of dog owners (96%) said they spoil their pets. And 37% of owners reported that they treat their dogs so well, they would consider switching bodies with their pups for a day, if they could.

Just in time for Mother’s Day, three out of four women polled reported that they were proud of their ‘dog mom’ persona.

Approximately 67 percent of women dog owners believe they should be celebrated on holiday, just like human moms.

A smaller majority, 58 percent of the ‘dog moms’, responded that they plan to spoil their ‘fur babies’ this Mother’s Day.

Much smaller but alarmingly nontrivial subsets of women admitted that they treat their pooches to more luxury than they do themselves (32 percent), their kids (17 percent), or their significant others (16 percent).

‘Mother’s Day is the time for ‘dog moms’ to receive lots of love and affection from their fur baby,’ Tyszka says.

‘A perfect day to celebrate the dog mom in your life to something special,’ she added, ‘and then of course treat your dog, too.’
