DISNEY+ subscribers have a matter of hours to narrowly avoid an upcoming price hike and save over £50 for a year’s subscription.

The streaming giant plans to hike subscription costs across the board overnight.

Prices are set to rise by 37.5 per cent, an increase which Disney announced earlier this year.

But prices aren’t the only change that will be happening overnight.

On November 1, all UK subscribers will be automatically switched over to Disney’s new “premium” subscription package.

The “premium” package was previously Disney’s standard subscription option.

However, the package was “levelled up” to make way for separate ad-free and ad-supported tiers.

The “premium” subscription price will rise from £7.99 to £10.99 overnight tonight.

All new customers will pay the following rates if they sign up for the streaming service from November 1:

  • Disney+ standard (with ads) – £4.99 a month
  • Disney+ standard (without ads) – £7.99 a month (or £79.90 annually)
  • Disney+ premium – £10.99 a month (or £109.90 annually)

Existing customers will automatically be switched over to the premium tier from November 1, but will need to initiate a move to a cheaper subscription before December 6.

The new Standard plan means viewers can continue watching Disney+ at the same monthly price as now (£7.99).

However, they will lose 4K/UHD streaming and you’ll only be able to watch or download Disney+ on two instead of four devices.

Meanwhile, the new ad-supported plan will cost £4.99 a month, including HD streaming and the ability to stream or download on two devices.

Avoiding the price rise

Disney+ subscribers can lock in an annual deal before the end of October, where they can save £52 a year.

An annual subscription for the soon-to-be ‘premium’ package will cost £79.90 until the end of the month.

After that date, it will jump to £109.90.

This way, viewers can get a whole year of ad-free Disney+ for £79.90, taking them through until the end of October 2024.

Then they will move to the new prices, a year later than everyone else, as RXTV Info pointed out.
