‘Delete’ any apps that break little-known Amazon rule as Fire TV Stick owners warned ‘delay issue’ will ruin your movies

A REDDIT user has revealed a trick that can help you with a slow Amazon Fire TV Stick.

The tip was posted on the popular Reddit forum r/firetvstick.

The trick was revealed in response to another user complaining about a slow Fire TV Stick.

“Recently I’ve noticed that when I turn on Firestick, an add starts playing immediately instead of the normal home screen.

“I have to press “down” to then go to home screen. I don’t know if this is a coincidence or if this is the cause, but everything is slow now.

“The home screen bottom is blank for up to 30 seconds, inputs have a three or four second delay, and some apps open on their own now.

“Is anyone else experiencing this?” the disgruntled user asked.

“I’ve noticed the ad, but not the slowdown. I’ve been using the Home button to escape the ad,” one Reddit user replied.

“I’d clear the cache and delete any unused apps. Might help with the slowness,” another Redditor suggested.

Deleting unused apps and clearing your cache is a good idea to prevent your Fire TV Stick from experiencing lagging or buffering issues.

Every app you download will create a cache on your Fire TV Stick.

A cache stores data and can be useful as it helps an app remember your needs and preferred content.

Not clearing your cache regularly enough can lead to a lack of storage and a slower device.

Amazon even recommends clearing your Fire TV Stick cache to solve app issues.

“To resolve intermittent app issues, clear the app data and cache,” the tech giant says on its website.

To clear your Fire TV Stick cache, first head to Settings.

Then, click on Applications and tap Manage Installed Applications.

Here you can click on the app you want to clear.

Simply select Clear Cache and then Clear Data.

Bear in mind that caches can be automatically cleared if you forget.

 “If an app is unused for more than 30 days and the device is running low on storage, the storage optimizing feature will automatically clear the app cache.

“This feature runs in the background and can’t be deactivated,” Amazon says.
