In January, online retailer Boohooo then bought the website and brand – but the deal excluded all 118 remaining UK stores and 12,000 Debenhams jobs.

Debenhams’ stores are currently shut alongside all non-essential retail due to lockdown rules, although they can still offer online shopping.

Boris Johnson also gave the green light for non-essential shops to reopen on April 12 earlier this week.

Following the confirmation, Debenhams plans to reopen all stores in England and Wales from Monday with up to 70% off fashion and home.

How to compare prices to get the best deal

JUST because something is on offer, or is part of a sale, it doesn’t mean it’s always a good deal.

There are plenty of comparison websites out there that’ll check prices for you – so don’t be left paying more than you have to.

Most of them work by comparing the prices across hundreds of retailers.

Here are some that we recommend:

  • Google Shopping is a tool that lets users search for and compare prices for products across the web. Simply type in keywords, or a product number, to bring up search results.
  • Price Spy logs the history of how much something costs from over 3,000 different retailers, including Argos, Amazon, eBay and the supermarkets. Once you select an individual product you can quickly compare which stores have the best price and which have it in stock.
  • Idealo is another website that lets you compare prices between retailers. All shoppers need to do is search for the item they need and the website will rank them from the cheapest to the most expensive one.
  • CamelCamelCamel only works on goods being sold on Amazon. To use it, type in the URL of the product you want to check the price of.

Shoppers will also be able to get up to 50% off beauty and fragrance items.

The offers may vary from store to store and are only available as long as stocks last.

You can find your nearest Debenhams store by using the shop locator tool.

Debenhams told The Sun the stores will be open for between three and five weeks depending on the stock clearance, before they shut permanently.

It has almost 100 stores across England and Wales.

The department store has been closed since the start of the third national lockdown on January 5.

In some areas of England, shops have only been allowed to open for two weeks since November 5, because they were placed in Tier 4 ahead of Christmas.

While stores have remained shut, Debenhams has continued to clear stock online with up to 80% off in December.

If you aren’t fussed about going into a Debenhams store, we round up our favourite deals in the online closing down sale below.

The retailer is yet to confirm whether the same offers will be available in store.

Online shoppers will find discounts on everything from women’s and men’s clothing and shoes, to homeware, beauty and fragrances on its website.

It’s still a good idea to compare prices though, as you may be able to find something cheaper elsewhere.

There is no final end date to the online sale, as it’ll run until stock sells out.

Just remember to factor in delivery costs of £3.99 for each order.
