PLAN IT: No one wants to order a picture and then realise it doesn’t quite work in the space they imagined for it. So save the hassle and wasted cost by checking out the Artsee app first.

This clever app lets you visualise how an artwork will look on your actual wall before you buy it.

Plus, it’s free. Apple users can download it from iTunes. If you are not on Apple, check out the WallApp at ohmyprints.com instead.

FRAMES: For cheap and cheerful frames for your prints, try Ikea’s Fiskbo range. They come in plenty of different colours and sizes but I think the classic black is perfect for a gallery wall.

And at just £1.75 for a 21cm x 30cm size, they are super-cheap, too. Similar frames cost £2.50 at Wilko.

Print do not have to cost a fortune

PRINTS: These do not have to cost a fortune. I love desenio.co.uk for its huge selection of affordable posters, perfect for gallery walls.

One of my favourites is the Antibes poster print for £13.95.

And if you sign up to the newsletter, you can currently get 25 per cent off on posters. For something a little more quirky, head to iamfy.co — where you can get a 20 per cent discount by signing up. I am loving the Espresso Martini art print, from £16.

READY MADE: If you want the gallery effect for less (and for little effort) turn to The Range. I love its Aztec monochrome framed prints, set of five, for £8.

The savvy collection has five themed prints that work well together, all in boxy frames.

Each picture works out at £1.60 — great value compared to buying prints and frames separately.

All you need to do is pick a wall and arrange them how you like.
