COSTA Coffee customers have been left furious this morning after the app crashed due to high demand for its 50p drinks offer.
The chain is offering all hot drinks for 50p each for three days this week to mark its 50th birthday.
But many fans were left frustrated this morning when the app – which customers need to use to access the deals – stopped letting you log in.
When The Sun tried at the time of writing, we got an error message saying: “Oops! Sorry, it’s not you, it’s us. Please try again later.”
Many customers have also vented their frustration on social media.
One customer tweeted: “I’ve been trying to log on all morning. Really disappointed as I was looking forward to my 50p Costa.”
While another added: “Would live to take advantage of the #CostaCoffee 50p drinks today with the hubby as we travel (essentially).
“But alas the @CostaCoffee app has crashed and logged me out and stopped him using his.”
“Come on Costa! If you run an offer make sure your digital teams are prepared!”
And a third said: “Anyone else feel conned by Costa app crashing?
“I’ve taken a screenshot of the QR Code though, so I’ll queue as long as I need for a 50p drink.”
One Costa worker said: “It’s been a nightmare. We got in this morning early as we knew we would be easy and by 7.30am the app had gone down. We feared this might happen.
“Apparently it is just sheer weight of numbers of people logging on.
“A lot of people returning to the shops had popped in for a drink first and are fuming.”
Under the terms of the deal the coffee chain is selling all hot drinks for just 50p on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.
From April 13 – April 15, registered Costa Coffee Club mobile app users will only pay 50p per hot drink as long as they scan the app when they purchase.
The deal includes speciality drinks such as a handcrafted oat milk Flat-White, the signature Hot Chocolate or even the newest addition to the menu, the limited-edition Toffee Spiced Latte.
But there are some limitations as you’re only allowed to have up to three extras or an alternative milk.
In other deals, McDonald’s is offering free hot drinks to customers today.
Meanwhile, giving up a daily takeaway coffee can save you £1,007 each year.
Pubs and restaurants reopened for outdoor dining yesterday for the first time in months.
