Several UK doctors and leading health experts have criticised a decision by the Speaker to lift Covid restrictions in House of Commons and resume “pre-pandemic” procedures.

So out of touch with reality. https://t.co/tX1xK94sM4

This is a very foolish decision by the House of Commons Speaker. There are now > 30,000 Covid-19 cases daily in the UK. Parliament should be setting an example by supporting working practices that reduce the risk of infection, and which protect vulnerable MPs and their staff. https://t.co/wYnK1O9nSW

This strikes me as unnecessarily inflexible. Some MPs will have comorbidities or have family members who are at increased risk from covid19. To deprive them of the option for remote meeting seems dangerous. https://t.co/Ff25Atebjm

Our elected representatives are behaving as if the pandemic is over
It isn’t.
This is a) dangerous and discriminatory against MPs who are vulnerable/ immune suppressed
b) sending very unhelpful messages.

798 people died of Covid last week, we still need to be careful https://t.co/EDKjLerdsw

Insane. @BorisJohnson #JohnsonVariant screenshot this for future reference. https://t.co/Ko9U04fgOW

Hurrah!!! https://t.co/6YcWyH5fn2

Good to see that the House of Commons has returned to normal with no compulsion to wear masks or social distancing. #noturningback https://t.co/5IqGfX55jP
