CLARKS has scrapped its popular free replacement school shoes scheme due to Covid restrictions temporarily closing its stores.
The shoe shop rolled out the scheme to shoppers before the back to school rush in July last year, guaranteeing parents that their kids’ school shoes would fit until next year.

The shop said if you went in store to get a special fitting for your youngster between July 13 and September 14, you will be able to exchange them for free if the shoes no longer fit.
If your child’s shoes were size 7 to 9.5, you would have had to exchange them by November 20 last year.
And if the shoes were size 10 and above, you would have had until February 28 to return them and exchange them for another pair, or get a refund.
But in order to get the promotion, shoppers would have had to go in store with the shoes, show their receipt and have a Clarks fitter agree that they no longer fit.
With tightened Covid restrictions meaning non-essential shops remain closed across the country, shoppers have not been able to make use of the promotion.
Clarks has therefore told The Sun that the scheme has been cancelled.
“Due to current lockdown restrictions, and no clear time frame for when our stores will be able to reopen, we are very sorry to inform our customers that we can no longer continue with the Guarantee or provide an exchange or refund,” a Clarks spokesperson said.
“This is because a customer would need to visit a Clarks store to see if they are eligible for the Guarantee and have the fit of their child’s shoes assessed by a trained member of staff.
“While this decision has been made directly as a result of Covid-19 restrictions, we appreciate how popular the Guarantee has been and are truly sorry for the disappointment this news may cause.”
Clarks has decided to replace the offer with a new promotion.
If customers purchased any type of school shoes in a Clarks store between July and September 2020, you’ll be able to get a 30% discount off your next pair of shoes.
The school shoes don’t need to have been purchased under the guarantee, and they can be any size.
The discount can be used on any full-price kids or adults shoes.
To get the promotion, you’ll need your receipt handy.
Enter details of your receipt into the shop’s online form here, and Clarks will email you within three days with a promotional code.
You’ll only be able to use the code for online purchases only, and you have until 31 March to use the discount.
You won’t be able to use the discount alongside any other offer, or on reduced price items.
A Clarks spokesperson said: “We look forward to welcoming our customers back in our stores when they reopen and hope this new promotion will go some way to offer a helping hand.”
