New EV Trail in Lakes for electric car drivers
Electric car drivers are being invited to explore some of the Lake District’s most delightful destinations this summer on a new EV Trail.
The 74-mile route, including 50kW rapid chargers, takes in highlights of the UNESCO World Heritage Site such as Windermere, Ambleside, Grasmere, Keswick and Ullswater.

It has been created by Cumbria Tourism for the Low Carbon Lake District initiative. Organisers say: ‘Experiencing the numerous attractions is best done over a few days, or even a week, allowing the most sustainable enjoyment of the area’s lakes, forests, mountains, castles and other historical locations.’
An additional 900 charge-points are to be installed with funding from the Department for Transport’s Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) grant.
