NEW snack-size Snickers, Twix and Mars have left chocolate-lovers feeling short-changed.

The scaled-down versions, all under 100 calories, are 50 per cent smaller than standard bars but cost the same.

Packs of ten of the 21g treats are being sold at some shops for £2 — as are nine-packs of the standard 33.8g bars.

It means shoppers are getting nearly a third less of their favourite treats for the same money.

Chocolate fan Ed Davis, 36, an electrician from Great Barford, Beds, said: “I hadn’t noticed the change when we bought them but I ate it in two bites quicker than normal and was puzzled.

“I compared the packs. What a con. They were snack bars anyway. They are more like fun-size bars now.”

Meanwhile, another miffed consumer wrote online: “Even less product for the same price and sooner or later the standard size will get quietly abolished.”

And another wrote: “A Mars bar used to keep the hunger at bay until tea time. Now you’d need at least three.”

A spokesman for Mars said: “This new range is for consumers who want a sweet treat but in a smaller portion size.”
