The Mars favourite was quietly taken off shelves in 2021 and it seems fans are only just starting to realise.

The popular bar contained hazelnuts, nougat and caramel and was first launched in the UK in 1962.

It was initially removed from boxes of Celebrations in 2006, and now it has been taken out of production completely.

The chocolate bar was officially discontinued in August 2021 with the final sales being recorded by Nielsen in June 2022.

This is why when you search the product on Google it shows as being discontinued in 2022, when actually it was one year earlier.

Fans of the Topic have been taking to social media to vent after discovering that the nutty chocolate treat is no more.

One person said: “So had a craving for a Topic this afternoon and couldn’t find one anywhere.

Google tells me the manufacturer discontinued production last year.”

Another posted on Twitter: “Hi MarsUK I recently learned that my favourite chocolate Topic has been discontinued.

“This is highly disappointing. Why did this happen? I need them back in my life.”

Another person added: “I was looking for Topic’s a few weeks back and seeing Mars had discontinued them in 2022.

“Mars bring them back!”

One furious fan recently posted on Facebook: “Apparently, the Topic chocolate bar has been discontinued.

“And yet the Boost bar still exists. This country!”

A Mars Wrigley UK spokesperson said: “It was the topic on everyone’s lips when our Topic bars were officially discontinued in August 2021.

“At Mars Wrigley UK we’re always listening to fans of our chocolate treats and recognise the nationwide love for Topic.

“While the traditional Topic bar is currently not available in the UK, we have evolved the brand and launched the delicious Vegan Topic for those in need of a hazelnut hit.”

It is not the only shock that chocolate lovers have had in recent weeks.

Mars recently confirmed that it had discontinued its dark chocolate Bounty bars.

This left fans fuming including one of the bar’s biggest fans, Piers Morgan who said he was “outraged”.

Posting on X (formerly Twitter) he said: “I’ve just been told my favourite dark chocolate red wrapper Bounty bars have been discontinued, and this is the last one left in my dressing room stockpile.

“I’m outraged. This will cause immeasurable harm to my mental health. Please reconsider.”

Other fans of the dark chocolate Bounty were quick to share in his pain, with one fan saying: “Noooo. Dark chocolate Bounty’s beat milk chocolate Bountys hands down.”

Meanwhile, other chocolate favourites are making a return and shoppers could not be happier.
