PARENTS up and down the country will be sighing with relief as their kids go back to school tomorrow.
So what better way to celebrate the end of home-schooling than with a glass of champagne?
But you do not need to spend a fortune on fizz, with the help of my savvy tips . . .
BARGAIN BUBBLES: Who says you have to opt for prosecco to raise a celebratory glass of fizz on the cheap?
I am a huge fan of Aldi’s Veuve Monsigny Champagne Brut, just £12.99. It is super-refreshing, tastes very similar to big-name brands and has even won several awards.
Meanwhile, Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut Champagne will set you back a rather harder to swallow £36 at Sainsbury’s.
SAVING: £23.01
CLINK PINK: Rose champagnes have grown in popularity over the last few decades and tend to be more expensive than their white counterparts.
The Tesco Finest Rose Champagne is a great mid-range option and is currently yours for £20, down from £23.
SAVING: £3
MORE TO LOVE: If you want to raise an even bigger glass, or two, then try a magnum-sized bottle.
They are twice the size of a regular 75cl bottle, so make for a great treat or a fantastic party piece when Covid rules finally allow.
You can grab a huge Nicolas Feuillatte NV Champagne Magnum for £59.99 from majestic.co.uk. This is a fair bit cheaper than brands such as Laurent-Perrier, which has a Brut NV Magnum for £86 at Waitrose. Plus, if you are prepping for what we all hope will be a summer of fun, you can stock up now on six of these magnums at Majestic and pay £44.99 per bottle.
SAVING: £15 per bottle when buying six
CHOCS AWAY: For an extra-special treat, add some boozy chocs to the menu — just keep them away from the children.
I love the Marks & Spencer Belgian Marc de Champagne Cocoa Dusted Truffles, £6 for 260g — far cheaper than similar from posh brands such as Charbonnel et Walker. Its classic selection, 135g, is £15.
