New Year’s Eve is just a few days away, which will see the world set off impressive fireworks displays.

A new brainteaser incorporates colorful explosions but features three hidden Catherine Wheels fireworks designed to create a circular flame.

This firework was named after Saint Catherine of Alexandria, condemned to death by the ‘breaking wheel,’ which the person was tied to while an executioner broke their bones.

The puzzle challenges people to find all pinwheel fireworks in under 30 seconds.

The image’s creator said those who pass the test could notice every small detail in their environment.

According to legend, Catherine was sentenced to be executed on a spiked wheel, but when she touched it, the wheel miraculously broke, sparing her life.

The fireworks’ name and circular spinning motion are believed to be inspired by this story.

Records show the first Catherine Wheel was set off in England during the 18th century and was designed with a wooden wheel strapped with fireworks around the circumference.

The wheel would rapidly spin when the explosives were lit, creating a stunning show of sparks and flames that appeared as a circle.

But the iconic fireworks are still used to this day.

The online gambling site created the brainteaser Betaway and challenged people to find the three hidden Catherine Wheel fireworks among the fireworks display set over a bonfire.

Setting off fireworks on New Year’s Day started around the second century BC in China, where people would throw flaming bamboo into the air to ward off evil spirits.
