CALL of Duty developer Activision Blizzard has dropped a bombshell about the upcoming game.

Last month, images appeared only showing a cross-promotion between Call of Duty and energy drink Monster.

The packaging revealed that the next game in the franchise will be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which was a surprise to fans.

Usually, Call of Duty games don’t release two entries from the same series back to back.

As the last game was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, players were expecting another series, such as Black Ops.

Activision Blizzard has now responded to the leaked images with a message for Call of Duty players.

Call of Duty fans think they’ve spotted the next game’s title
Gamers are just realising an interesting change to old Call of Duty games

The image released by the company shows a stick figure with a hat and a gun, with a comic sans slogan over the top.

Black text covers the red background and reads: “Modern Warfare Redacted? Call of Duty”.

The official Call of Duty Twitter account accompanies the image teasing its fans writing: “Jokes on you, real key art here.”

However, the tweet also comes with hope for the fanbase that more information on the upcoming title is on its way.

While we know some of what is coming later this year through leaks, there has been no official information yet.

Fans are eager to know what’s coming next, especially as new Call of Duty games are usually released around October of each year.

However, it’s good news for players as the account says: “We’ll share our artistic abilities and even more next week.”

Fans are hoping this means that the name could be officially confirmed next week, as well as the official cover art.
