DCMS figures show more than 1,300 pieces were found in 2019, the largest since records began

More than 1,300 pieces of treasure were found in the UK during 2019 – the largest haul since records began – as a growing number of keen metal detectorists fuel the finds, according to new government information.

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) released its annual report into treasure finds in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, which surpassed 1000 discoveries for the sixth year in a row.
