BRITAIN’S most affordable postcodes have been revealed- here are the easiest places to buy your own home.

New data have revealed the cheapest postcodes outside London, perfect for first-time buyers.

Greenock in Renfrewshire is the most affordable area to buy a home in the UK with an average asking price being £64,699, according to figures from GetAgent.

Postcode KA16 in Newmilns, East Ayrshire follows with an average asking price of £69,049.

An average home in Easterhouse in Glasgow will set you back £74,130 while in the fourth position is Kilbirnie in North Ayrshire with £78,110.

Here are the top 10 current cheapest areas to buy a property on average in the UK, excluding London:

The list shows that  Scotland has the top four most affordable postcodes in the country, with postcodes in Glasgow, Ayrshire and Renfrewshire having average asking prices of less than £78,500 in 2022.

Scottish postcodes are also found beyond the top 10 while Liverpool was the only postcode in England to rank in the bottom half of the top twenty.

Scottish postcodes ranking in positions 11 to 19 had average asking prices of between £97,500 to £110,500, with Ayrshire and Glasgow in particular proving as real hotspots for those looking for affordable properties.

Postcodes in North of England also placed in the top ten, with locations in Bradford, Grimsby, and Middlesbrough featuring at the top of the list.
