BP started rationing petrol last night as the trucker shortage shut forecourts.
Some Tesco stations were also closed off amid calls to rip up immigration laws so foreign drivers can return.

The crisis comes on top of families facing soaring energy bills and empty shelves at supermarkets.
BP’s Hanna Hofer said it had two-thirds of normal forecourt stock levels required for “smooth operations” — and the level was “declining rapidly”.
She called the situation “very bad” and said it was vital the Government understood the urgency.
BP’s contractor Hoyer cannot find enough tanker drivers to make fuel deliveries.
They are typically 20 short of the 400-450 a day needed.
Petrol stations on motorways and major roads are being prioritised.
Meanwhile, Tesco said gaps on store shelves will get “ten times worse” by Christmas.
