BOOTS is closing the shop doors at another location – but all is not lost, with customers given instructions to help the branch.

The high-street chain will shut its pharmacy in Willerby on the outskirts of Hull.

Back in June, Boots said it would shut 300 branches across the UK.

The closure of the Willerby store has not been officially confirmed – but the Hull Daily Mail reports that new managers are set to take over in the next six months.

Staff at the pharmacy will reportedly be offered jobs at other Boots outlets.

Councillor Gary McMaster said locals need to keep using the store so it stays open.

He said: “Boots may well make the decision to scale back and cease providing a pharmaceutical service in the Willerby area – but there is clearly a need for a service provider.

“I urge residents to please continue supporting this business in order that it remains a viable location for alternative prospective pharmaceutical suppliers to remain attracted to this location.”

In a bid to stop staff being overstretched, Boots has slated 300 branches near other outlets for closure.

It says that four in five Brits will still live a ten-minute drive or less away from their nearest Boots.

The chain has still not released a full list of the pharmacies set to close, but confirmed branches in Wakefield, Glastonbury and Woking will also close this month.

Boots said: “Evolving the store estate in this way allows Boots to concentrate its team members where they are needed and focus investment more acutely in individual stores.

“We have the ambition of consistently delivering an excellent and reliable service in a fresh and up to date environment.”

It comes as a major bank is shutting 19 branches for good this month – with several closing in just hours.
