The nest of tables was previously priced at £50, but when the customer scanned the item it showed up at just £1.

Posting to the B&M bargains Facebook group the happy shopper said “Absolutely chuffed with this”.

The post quickly gathered comments from other B&M bargain hunters hoping to bag the same deal.

One person tagged her friend and said: “If you see these please pick them up for me.”

Another added: “If you see these for that price grab me them please.”

A third congratulated the shopper and said: “Well done you, great bargain.”

Some shoppers were confused as to how she managed to find the bargain.

One said: “Do you have to go around scanning everything?”

The shopper replied to the comment to say that she had just scanned the tables on the off-chance while shopping for other items.

It is not clear which store the deal was found in, and it does not necessarily mean the tables will be in all stores.

You can find your nearest B&M by using the store locator tool on the website.

Many shoppers like sharing their B&M hauls on social media and there is even a group dedicated to the “B&M Scanner”.

Some B&M shoppers say they have saved hundreds of pounds by using the store’s free barcode scanner.

What is the B&M barcode scanner?

If you are not familiar with the handy tool you might be missing out on some bargains.

The scanner lets shoppers see if the item’s price is cheaper than advertised on the shop shelf.

It is completely free to get and use, you just need to download the B&M app.

Products that are usually discounted are seasonal items and old stock that B&M is trying to shift.

All you need to do is scan the barcode on any item in-store and see what price comes up.

Whatever price is showing is the price it will scan for at the tills.

How do I find the B&M scanner?

The B&M scanner is located on the store’s app which you can download for free on your smartphone.

Once you have the app on your phone, just click on the “scan” button at the bottom of your homepage.

This will then bring up the camera on your smartphone, which you’ll need to use to scan barcodes

How do I use the B&M scanner?

When you’ve found a product you want to scan, simply point your smartphone camera toward its barcode.

The app will then automatically bring up the item’s price – this is when you’ll know if it is reduced or not.

Bargain hunters say some items come up as £1, 50p or even 10p through the app.

You will need to have some patience and a lot of it is being in the right place at the right time.

While the reductions can sometimes seem a bit random, it is usually seasonal stock or old stock.

So the best times to go bargain hunting for example would be just after big holidays such as Christmas or Easter.
