Eager fans of the discount retailer spotted the sale at one store that is said to be pulling the shutters down this weekend.

The B&M store in English Street, Cumbria, is set to close on Sunday, September 24, according to reports on social media.

The Sun has contacted B&M to confirm the closure date.

News of the closing down sale has been shared across Facebook with shoppers itching to get their hands on some bargains.

One person wrote: “B&M English Street (town centre) closing down sale!”

Dozens of bargain hunters rushed to comment, with one Facebook user tagging their friend and writing: “We have to go before it closes down.”

Another added: “Woohoo need to go there… Didn’t even know it was closing down.”

While we couldn’t find exact examples of the discount deals people managed to find, in the past B&M shoppers have picked up items for as little as 10p.

It is not yet known if the store will be relocating to another nearby location.

It’s not the first time that B&M has hosted major discounts before closing down stores.

When its Newport shop closed in Wales back in February, it hosted a huge 75% off sale before shutting its doors for good.

There were similar discounts at a B&M store located in Rugby’s Clock Towers Shopping Centre when it closed in 2021.

And before that shoppers from Slough benefitted from a similar price cut frenzy as a separate closing down sale took effect at a B&M store in the area.

The Cumbria closure comes following several shops shutting and relocating this year:

  • Castlegate Shopping Centre, Stockton – Feb 25
  • Maesglas Retail Park, Newport, Wales – March 4
  • Boucher Road, Belfast – March 26
  • Queens Drive Retail Park, Kilmarnock – March 26
  • Broadwalk Shopping Centre, Bristol – March 29
  • Widness – May 17
  • Burnden Retail Park store in Bolton – May 24
  • Kiln Lane, Reading – August 19

It’s not all bad news though because the discount chain has opened dozens of new sites this year.

They included new stores in Southport, GlasgowLiverpool, Eastbourne and Stockton.

is set to open multiple shops this year. They are as follows:

  • Hawley Road, Hinckley – September 23
  • Trostre, Llanell – September 23
  • Robin Park, Wigan – September 29
  • Faraday, Newbury – October 7
  • Fort Parkway, Birmingham – October 14
  • Monks Cross – October 18
  • Chatteris – October 25
  • Gateshead (Store expansion) – October 28
  • Manor Walks, Cramlington – November 11

How can I save money at B&M?

While a closing down sale offers big discounts on already bargain prices, there are still ways to save at B&M every other day too.

The B&M barcode scanner app allows you to discover discounted items before the staff has even reduced them.

The scanner is located on the B&M Stores mobile app, which can be downloaded for free on your smartphone.

Shoppers can download it on the App Store or Google Play.

Once you’ve got the app, click on the “scan” button at the bottom of your homepage.

This will then bring up the camera on your smartphone, which you’ll need to use to scan barcodes.

When you’ve found a product you want to scan, simply point your smartphone camera toward its barcode.

The app will then automatically bring up the item’s price – this is when you’ll know if it is reduced or not.

Bargain hunters say some items come up as £1, 50p or even 10p through the app.

Shoppers should also keep an eye out for products with a white reduction sticker on.

This means they will have a certain amount slashed off the price shown on the label.
