President-elect Joe Biden said delays in his presidential transition could hinder the federal government response to the coronavirus pandemic.

“More people may die if we don’t coordinate,” Mr. Biden said Monday.

Mr. Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris met with labor and business leaders, including the heads of General Motors Co. and Microsoft Corp. He told reporters afterward that if his incoming administration is forced to wait until Jan. 20 to plan for the distribution of vaccines, “it puts us behind.”
