Thousands of wines from over 50 countries were judged by a panel of international experts in a blind taste test that was run last month.

The best wines have been awarded medals to help consumers make the best choice when shopping.

The competition is in its 38th year and this year UK supermarkets won 591 medals overall, and 430 of them were for own-label wines.

Morrisons alone won 109 of those in total, and Tesco won 108.

Helen McGinn, co-chair of the International Wine Challenge said: “An International Wine Challenge medal sticker helps consumers navigate the wide range of wines available on supermarket shelves in the UK.

“It gives them confidence to make informed wine choices every time they buy.”
