Spring presents the perfect time to clean off the mould which has built up over the autumn and winter.

Britain has had one of its wettest winters ever which has given mould the perfect opportunity to spread.

As well as being popular, it is also cheap, selling at Asda for only £1.49 and at Sainsbury’s for £1.50.

Fans of the cleaner left rave reviews about how well it worked on Asda’s website.

One said: “Rips through mould and mildew, by far the best product of its kind that I’ve used. Vegan certified too.”

Another wrote: “Best product on the market for all types of mould. Spray generously and leave for 10 minutes then give it a wipe and the mould literally disappears or leave it on for longer for more stubborn growth.”

While a third posted: “I was horrified to find mould and mildew on our windowsils this morning. After a bit of research, I found this spray which unlike many others, is suitable for various surfaces (ie not just for bathroom tiles/grouting etc) so gave it a go.

Five tips for getting rid of mould

If you are ordering this online you will need to factor in a delivery charge.

Astonish Mould and Mildew Blaster is more expensive at other supermarkets.

At Ocado, the cleaner sells for £1.80, while Astonish itself sells the product for £2.

Lakeland sells an extra strength version that goes for £2.99.

Other ways of solving the problem

It is possible to simply wipe away condensation anytime it appears on your windows.

You’ll want to make sure you have a decent window cleaner and a microfibre cloth.

It’s good to open your windows every day to let fresh air in and keep doors between rooms open.

Ensuring that air continuously circulates through your home will reduce condensation so the mould cannot grow.

You should also open cupboard doors regularly to allow fresh air in to make sure there’s no mould growing inside.

Other things that can help include not leaving your clothes to dry on radiators, and always cooking with ventilation.
