BIG chains and pubs including Domino’s and Young’s are flogging deals, discounts and freebies to celebrate Freedom Day.
On Monday, Brits will enjoy a showering of freedoms which will see social distancing scrapped in pubs and bars and workers return to the office.
Nightclubs will throw open their doors at midnight on Sunday for the first time since March 2020 and wearing face masks won’t be a legal requirement.
To mark the occasion, some of the nation’s favourite chains are giving out free food and booze.
We round up all the best deals you can bag from tomorrow:
Free Domino’s pizza
Domino’s is giving out free pizza to a lucky number of customers on Monday.
There will be 480 vouchers worth £20 up for grabs to spend at the pizza chain.
All you have to do is respond to a tweet Domino’s will send out at 11am on Monday celebrating Freedom Day.
Domino’s will then slide into your DMs to let you know you’ve won if you’re one of the lucky ones.
Free pint at Young’s
You can get a pint for free at Young’s on Freedom Day.
All you have to do have the pub’s app, On Tap, downloaded on your phone.
How to get free grub
FINDING out which shops and restaurants are offering freebies can sometimes be hard.
We’ve put together some tips for you on how to snoop out free grub:
- Sign up to free subscription trials – for example, Pret a Manger’s subscription service, which launched in September, is giving customers free coffee for a month when they sign up.
- Sign up to apps – app users can often get exclusive deals and money off on their favourite meals – and at McDonald’s, app users can get freebies and discounts on their birthday.
- Use food waste apps – supermarkets and restaurants often throw away unsold fresh food at the end of the day – but you can use food waste apps to pick these items up for free or at heavily discounted prices.
It’s free to download via Google Play or the App Store, but you’ll have to register with a few bits of personal information, such as your email address.
Head to “Your Treats” section, where you’ll be able to claim your free Young’s Original pint of pale ale.
If you’re not planning to head to the pub on Freedom Day, then you have until July 25 to use the offer.
However, you’ll have to act fast – only the first 30,000 customers will be able to get one, so the offer is limited.
You can find out where your nearest Young’s pub is here.
McMuffin and Big Macs for 99p
To kick Freedom Day off in the right way, McDonald’s has slashed the cost of its McMuffin treats to just 99p.
You’ll be saving up to £1.40, because McMuffins usually cost around £2.39.
There’s three flavours to choose from – Bacon and Egg, Egg and Cheese or Sausage and Egg.
When breakfast ends at 11am, you’ll still be able to bag cheap grub as the chain is flogging Big Macs for 99p.
It usually costs £3.49, meaning you’ll be saving £2.40 on your treat.
To get both snacks for less, you’ll need to have the My McDonald’s app, which is free to download via Google Play or the App Store.
You have to fill out a few personal details, such as your phone number and email address, when setting up an account.
Once you’ve signed up, head to the deals section of the app.
The offer should be listed in this tab – all you need to do is click on it, order your meal and the discount will be applied at the checkout.
You can then collect your order from your nearest McDonald’s restaurant, either by walking in and collecting it or by using a drive-thru.
You can also sit in to eat your Maccies meal and you can find where your closest branch is by using the chain’s restaurant locator tool on its website.
Free dessert at TGI Fridays
If you have a sweet tooth, then you might want to check out the TGI Friday’s offer on Freedom Day.
You can get any dessert on the house if you download the TGI Friday’s app, which is free to download via Google Play or the App Store.
You’ll have to enter a few personal details, like your email address, to set up an account.
Once it’s set up, the offer will be under the Rewards tab of the app.
When you’re at the restaurant, click on “redeem offer”, and then show your app to your server.
£2 pints at Wetherspoons
‘Spoons is celebrating Freedom with £1.99 pints on Monday.
Guest ales from local breweries will be slashed in price across 770 of Wetherspoon’s pubs, but prices might vary across 90 of its boozers.
All you need to do is order your pint at your local branch, and the deal is available throughout the whole of the summer.
You can find where your local ‘Spoons pub is here.
25% off at Beefeater and Brewers Fayre
Whitbread – who owns household favourite chains including Beefeater and Brewers Fayre – will knock 25% off your food bill if you sign up to its newsletters.
Hungry diners will be able to get 25% off food if they are a Blue Light Card and Defence Privilege Card holder.
Customers who sign up to its restaurant newsletters will also be able to get the deal.
If you sign up to the newsletter, then you’ll receive an email detailing the discount which you’ll need to show to a member of staff when you arrive at your local branch.
You can sign up to the Beefeater newsletter here, and the Brewers Fayre one here.
McDonald’s has revealed that Monopoly will return this summer, with millions of prizes up for grabs.
The burger chain’s fans were left disappointed by the new McSpicy burger, slamming its “underwhelming” flavour.
