When is Black Friday 2022?
This year Black Friday is happening on November 25.
As always it lands on the day directly after the US Thanksgiving holiday.
Not that anyone in the UK will be celebrating over turkey the day before, though.
Black Friday is an American tradition that crept over to these shores a little off a decade ago, and it has grown steadily in popularity ever since.
The huge shopping bonanza is now as big as other key sale periods such as Boxing Day.
When is Cyber Monday 2022?
Cyber Monday falls three days after Black Friday – so in 2022, that’s Monday 28 November.
It originally got the name as it was a day of online-only deals, back when internet shopping was more of a novelty and most of the deals on Black Friday were only available in stores.
Nowadays that distinction has pretty much dissolved altogether.
You’re unlikely to find many in-store deals that can’t also be found on retailers websites too.
Now Cyber Monday is an opportunity for stores to send out their final wave of deals – and potentially slash prices even lower.
If you see an incredible phone deal during Black Friday, you may wish to take a gamble and see if it gets cheaper on Cyber Monday.
But that’s a risky move, since that deal might end by the time the Monday comes around. So our advice is not to hang on.
Will phones be cheaper on Black Friday?
It can be tricky to work out when phones are at their absolute cheapest because so many websites run several sales a year.
Pretty much every online tech retailer will have some form of Black Friday sale, but there’s no guarantee these deals will be better than the offers they’ve had earlier in 2022.
That said, with the sheer number of phone deals on offer over Black Friday, we’d be surprised if there weren’t a good number of genuine bargains to be phone on mobiles when the tail end of November rolls around.
Is Black Friday a good time to get a new phone contract?
As we’ve explained above, there will be a good number of phone deals to be found around Black Friday.
However, there’s no point buying a great deal on a new handset if you’ve still got to pay your old one off for months at the same time.
If possible, a good option would be to let your phone contract expire to a month-to-month contract and wait until Black Friday to get a new two-year deal.
That way you’ll be looking to renew your phone contract during Black Friday every other year which should help you find the most competitive price.

Should I wait until Black Friday to buy a new phone?
For our money, if you’re set on buying a new phone, you’re best off waiting until the day of Black Friday itself to buy, as that’s when you’ll have the most possible options.
If you decide to buy earlier than that, it’s worth checking to see if the retailer you’re buying from has a price promise i.e. that they won’t reduce the price even further come Black Friday.
