THE BBC has launched a new money off eligibility checker for viewers who are affected by next year’s big HD upgrade.
All the broadcaster’s channels will be made HD-only on satellite in 2024.
This means the long-running SD (standard definition) versions of channels including BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Three, BBC Four, BBC News, Cbeebies and CBBC will be closed down.
As a result, anyone with an SD-only set-top box will no longer receive any BBC channels as their kit can’t handle the HD tech.
Households impacted by the switch off will have to get a new Freesat box to continue receiving the channels.
But the BBC is offering some viewers with support – including vouchers towards a brand new box.
An eligibility checker tool has now landed so you can find out if you’re entitled to assistance.
You’ll have to answer a series of questions to determine if you can get anything.
Things such as whether the affected TV is your main set, your age and benefits you receive will be asked.
This will work out if you can get a financial contribution or not.

It’s not clear how much you will receive.
“Details on what the voucher covers will be included in the email,” the BBC’s HD Satellite Upgrade site says.
“The voucher email will be sent to your inbox within the next 24 hours.”

Freeview users aren’t affected by the changes.
Although BBC channels on Freeview are also upgrading, SD versions will remain available for the foreseeable future.
