Audioboom upgraded its forecasts for the sixth time as more and more people tuned into its podcasts.

The AIM-listed group, whose biggest shareholder with almost 15 per cent is property developer Nick Candy, said its audience was growing worldwide and that advertisers were clamouring to buy slots on its shows.

Audioboom said annual profits would be ‘significantly’ ahead of City estimates. The company hosts podcasts for the Spectator and former Great British Bake Off presenter Sue Perkins.

Boss Stuart Last also said a new service called Showcase was ‘already having a positive impact on the business’ after launching six weeks ago.

Showcase is an online marketplace than connects prospective advertisers and podcasters.

The upgrade comes as Candy, 48, faces pressure for attending a Tory aides’ Christmas party last year when the country was in lockdown.

Candy was photographed with a group including former London mayoral candidate Shaun Bailey.

The company put itself up for sale last year but failed to find a buyer. Shares rose 7.9 per cent, or 85p, to 1160p.
