Retailers tend to drop prices on items when they have excess stock.

You can nab one of the fryers on Asda’s website, but will have to fork out £50, with a £3.50 minimum delivery fee.

Either way, you should always shop around before making a rash purchase on something like this as you might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere.

You can use websites like Price Runner or Price Spy to compare prices on thousands of products.

Meanwhile, the Google Product tab is a quick and easy way to scan the internet to see how items’ prices compare.

That said, we had a quick look to see if any other retailer’s are selling the Scoville 4.3litre fryer cheaper than £17.50 but couldn’t find any.

In fact, there are no other major high street brands selling the same model.

However, Very.com is selling a 4.3litre Swan model for £34, down from £59, and it comes with free standard delivery.

Are air fryers cheaper to run than ovens?

Air fryers have surged in popularity as they can be cheaper to use than a conventional oven.

But this isn’t always the case.

In fact, money-saving expert Martin Lewis has previously issued a warning that it’s not always cheaper to use the gadgets.

However, you can use a simple formula to figure out how much it costs to run your air fryer and then compare that to the cost of running your oven. This is the formula:

Cost = power (in kWh) × time (in hours) × price of 1 kilowatt on your energy tariff.

So, if for example, you have an air fryer that consumes 2,000 watts, you are using it for one hour and the cost of electricity is priced at 27p per 1,000 watts, the formula would be:

2 x 1 x 27p = 54p

The Scoville 4.3litre fryer consumes 1,500 watts which means it costs 40.5p an hour to use.

You can then compare this cost with the cost of running your oven, by using the same formula.

For example, a normal oven uses between 900 and 3,500 watts of power.

So if you bought one on the lower-end of the power scale, it could actually be cheaper to use than the Scoville air fryer.

That said, air fryers can cook food quicker than an oven meaning they need to be switched on for less time.

They also use less oil so can be a healthier option too.
