ASDA is recalling several kids’ dressing gowns over fears that they could catch fire.

The supermarket published a warning on its website urging shoppers to return a range of dressing gowns for both boys and girls as part of its George range.

They include ones with plain colours and also printed versions with penguins, polar bears and stars on them.

Asda said it’s recalling them as they don’t meet the “stringent flammability requirement as set out by George and the UK Nightwear (Safety) Regulations”.

It’s because of the cotton jersey hood lining on the gowns.

There are specific products listed that are affected and Asda has given the codes for them so you can find out if one you’ve purchased needs to be returned or not.

We’ve listed them in the box below.

Asda’s urging people to stop using the dressing gowns immediately and bring them back to your nearest store where you’ll be given a full refund.

You don’t need your receipt to do so.

It adds: “We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused but as safety is our top priority we hope you will understand the reasons for this action. If you would like any further information please contact: Asda Customer Relations – 0800 952 0101.”

Asda has more than 600 branches across the UK. Find your nearest by using the store locator tool.

When The Sun checked George’s website, the dressing gowns were no longer listed for sale.

Asda tends to tell shoppers to keep its dressing gowns away from flames anyway in case there could be a horrific accident.

The notices, which are listed on certain products its website, say the following: “Warning: Keep away from fire and flames.”

We’ve contacted Asda for further comment and will update this article when we hear back.
