For Brooklyn teacher Kathryn Malara, this month feels like the most difficult time in the pandemic.

As the school year kicked off, signs of more normalcy were emerging with her classroom at full capacity. But Ms. Malara, a 33-year-old computer science teacher, was scared. She has a compromised immune system and feared that despite being vaccinated, she was still vulnerable to Covid-19.
