THE majority of retailers have confirmed the days people will be able to shop in their stores over the May Bank Holiday.
Most shops and supermarkets will be open but some may have reduced operating hours.
The early May Bank Holiday falls on May 1 and will see most shops remain open.
However, opening hours can vary from branch to branch, so check your local store times before you make the trip.
You can use store locator tools on retailer’s websites to check when they’ll be open.
But we’ve rounded up a full list of store opening and closing times for this week.
Tesco
Tesco has more than 3,400 stores across the UK and each one’s opening hours will vary from branch to branch so customers should check the supermarket’s store locator.
You can find this on the website, and just have to enter your postcode to find your nearest store.
You can also use the locator to check what time Tesco petrol stations will be open too.
Asda
Asda has confirmed its stores will be open as normal on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30.
Most read in Money
Its supermarkets will also keep their usual opening times on Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, May 7.
All stores in Scotland will be open until 10pm as usual.
Aldi
Aldi opening times can vary across the UK.
The chain has confirmed its stores will be open as normal on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30.
On Monday, May 1 Aldi stores will open at the usual time, but they will close slightly earlier at 8pm.
Lidl
Lidl stores have confirmed they will remain open over the early May Bank Holiday.
Monday, May 1 will see the stores open between 8am and 8pm.
Co-op
All Co-op stores will be open for business across all the Bank Holidays.
A spokesperson told The Sun: “As a convenience retailer, all Co-op stores will be open as usual in our communities throughout the May Bank Holidays.
“Enabling our members and customers to conveniently pick up everything they need for the long weekends and Coronation celebrations.”
Opening times may vary from store to store, so it is worth double-checking the Co-op store locator before visiting.
Morrisons
Morrisons has confirmed its store will be open as normal on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30.
Its shops will also keep their usual opening times on Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, May 7.
On Monday, May 1, Monday, May 8 and Monday, May 29, Morrisons stores will open at their usual time, but they will close slightly earlier at 8pm.
Iceland
Iceland will be open on all the May Bank Holidays in 2023.
However, opening times vary for any Iceland At The Range stores.
You can find your nearest Iceland branch by using their store locator, which can be found on their website.
Sainsbury’s
Sainsbury’s have confirmed 600 big stores will be open between 8am and 8pm over the three May Bank Holiday dates.
The smaller branches will be open as normal from 7am to 11pm.
But these aren’t guaranteed opening hours and will vary depending on the shop so you should head online to double check.
Other retailers
Marks and Spencer
Marks and Spencer’s stores will be open between 8:30am to 6pm on Monday, May 1.
Opening hours for your local M&S may vary, so make sure you check before you visit to avoid disappointment.
M&S stores in petrol stations, for example, are open 24 hours a day.
Home Bargains
Most stores open from 8 am on weekdays and from 11 am on weekends.
During the May Bank Holiday, however, opening times differ slightly from store to store depending on size and location.
A Home Bargains spokesperson said: “Some stores may differ to the above due to local retail park or shopping precinct opening times, so best to direct customers to the Home Bargains website to check before visiting.”
Waitrose
On Monday, May 1, most Waitrose & Partners shops will trade normal hours.
Some Little Waitrose shops will open from 7am to 10pm.
Their delivery service will proceed as normal.
B&Q
B&Q opening hours may vary over the Bank Holiday.
It’s best to check on the local store finder on the company’s website in order to make sure that your favoured shop is open to avoid disappointment.
Ikea
Ikea stores in England and Wales will be open over the Bank Holiday but their opening times may differ from one another.
The retailer will stick to its usual opening hours on the Saturday and Sunday leading up to Bank Holiday Monday.

Homebase
Homebase shoppers will be happy to know that the store will be open on May 1.
However, opening hours may vary from store to store so people are being asked to check their local store on their website.
ScrewFix
Screwfix stores will be open between 7am and 8pm on May 1.
Saturday, April 28 will see the store open between 7am and 6pm.
While, the store will be open between 9am to 4pm on the Sunday.
Wickes
Wickes have revealed their May Bank Holiday opening times.
A Wickes spokesperson told The Sun: “Luckily for Brits planning to use the extra days for a DIY overhaul, Wickes’ 230 nationwide stores will be open to customers as usual over the Bank holidays
“From 7 am to 8 pm.”
