THE August Bank Holiday is fast approaching – and it’s set to be a sunny one.

This means many people across the UK might want to spend the Bank holiday enjoying a barbecue or hosting friends and family. This means knowing when shops opening hours are is crucial.

Are shops open on August Bank Holiday?

On all bank holidays aside from Christmas Day, supermarkets tend to follow their Sunday hours.

This means they are likely to open later in the morning and close earlier in the afternoon or evening.

Morrisons

Morrisons is operating their normal store hours on Saturday and Sunday, however it will close it’s doors two hours earlier than usual on Monday, August 29, 2022.

Sainsbury’s

Over the bank holiday weekend, the vast majority of Sainsbury’s supermarkets across England, Wales and Northern Ireland are remaining open between 7am and 8pm.

However, the retailer told The Sun to check online, as opening hours do vary between stores.

John Lewis & Waitrose

On Monday, August 29, 2022 the majority of John Lewis stores are open from 9am to 6pm.

Waitrose have not confirmed their opening hours for the August Bank Holiday so it is advised to check online for your local branch.

Aldi

Aldi has announced all its stores will be open across the bank holiday weekend, including on bank holiday Monday.

Saturday and Sunday hours will remain the same, however their doors will close a little earlier than usual on Monday.

Tesco is the most impacted of all the supermarkets listed, as its stores will be opening two hours later and closing five hours earlier on bank holiday Monday.

This means it will have seven less hours open than on a usual Monday.

  • Saturday 27 August 2022: 6am – 10pm
  • Sunday 28 August 2022: 12pm – 6pm
  • Monday 29 August 2022: 8am – 6pm

The majority of Tesco Express stores have normal opening hours.

Customers can find specific information on their local store opening hours on Tesco’s store locator.

M&S

M&S have said that all of their stores are open, but a small handful may have slightly amended hours.

Therefore customers are advised to use the store locator page to check.

Lidl

Lidl‘s opening hours vary from branch to branch, so your best bet is to look at its store locator.

This lets you find your nearest shop and give details of its opening times.

You can also search online for your nearest store’s opening hours.

Iceland

Supermarket Iceland has not said anything about changed opening hours over the Bank Holiday weekend.

This means your local store is likely to be following its usual opening times.

You might find that some stores are running shorter hours to give their employees some time off.

Ikea

Store opening times vary over the August Bank Holiday.

So use IKEA‘s store locator page to check the opening times for your local branch.

Wilko

Wilko said stores trading hours over the Bank Holiday are 10am – 6pm.

They advise that you check the website before travelling to your local store.

B&Q

If your home is in need of some TLC then you’re in luck, the B&Q stores are open but their trading hours may differ.

It’s advised to check online for your local store and their opening hours.

The stores are open as normal on June 2 and June 3, 2022, but close at 8pm.

Home Bargains

Home Bargains said that customers should check their website for the August Bank Holiday opening hours of their local Home Bargains stores.
