But are newspapers published and delivered every day – even a bank holiday? Here’s what we know about paper deliveries over the long Platinum Jubilee weekend.

Are newspapers published over the Platinum Jubilee bank holiday weekend?

News never stops happening, so journalists have to be on the go 24/7.

That means that newspaper presses across the UK will be running as usual over the Jubilee bank holiday.

All national daily newspapers, including The Sun, will be available to buy on the Platinum Jubilee bank holiday dates – Thursday, June 2, 2022 and Friday, June 3, 2022.

And of course the weekend editions on Saturday, June 4, 2022, and Sunday, June 5, 2022, will be published as usual.

So don’t worry, you won’t miss out on any news, current affairs, sports or entertainment – and of course all the latest news from the Jubilee celebrations.

The only day in the year that newspapers aren’t published is Christmas Day, other than that, daily nationals are printed all year long non-stop.

Are newspapers delivered over Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday?

Papers will arrive in stores as normal over the bank holiday – with newspapers delivered as usual.

But it’s best to check with the shop you have the newspaper delivered from to make sure you’ll still receive yours through the letterbox.

Some smaller newsagents might not provide normal deliveries on this day – or the person on your paper round may be taking a well-earned break.

Also, your local supermarket be closed or have reduced hours for the bank holiday, so you will not be able to purchase your newspaper from there.

What are the Bank Holiday dates for 2022?

Brits have enjoyed four of nine bank holidays so far in 2022.

January 3 was a substitute bank holiday for New Year’s Day which was on a Saturday.

Then Brits celebrated Good Friday and Easter Sunday in April and soon after had an Early May Bank Holiday too.

The bank holidays still left for Brits to enjoy this year are:

  • June 2, 2022 – Spring Bank Holiday
  • June 3, 2022 – Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday
  • August 29, 2022 – Summer Bank Holiday
  • December 26, 2022 – Boxing Day
  • December 27, 2022 – Christmas Day (Substitute Day)
