The company’s gyms offer a range of cardio and strength-training equipment, as well as group exercise classes and personal training services.

A message on The Gym Group’s official website reads: ”All of our gyms will be closed at 4.30pm from December 24 – December 26.

”Gyms will re-open at 8am on December 27. Our usual service will resume after this time (please see local gym pages for more information).”

There are 69 locations across the UK, with gyms, spas, hotels, and beauty treatments on offer.

Those hoping to head to their local Bannatyne’s gym over the festive period can do so up until Christmas Eve.

However, Bannatyne’s Milbank facility is not open on December 24, or December 31 – members are instead advised to use the Maida Vale location.

All clubs are also closed on both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, with some exceptions on Boxing Day.

David Lloyd Clubs

David Lloyd Leisure currently operates 101 clubs in the UK as well as another 29 across Europe.

Those hoping to head to their local club should check its official social media channels for Christmas opening hours updates.

For example, those who are a member of the Manchester Trafford facility can find information over on the social media platform Facebook or other club members can phone up ahead of time.

That particular club is closed on Christmas Day.

Pure Gym

Pure Gym is Britain’s largest gym chain by membership, with more than 1,500,000 members registered in their gyms.

There are more than 300 Pure Gym facilities in the UK as of 2023.

While many gyms shut up shop until the new year, Pure Gym remains open.

Non 24-hour clubs are staffed and open from 8am-8pm on Christmas Day, so there’s plenty of time to get your sweat on before or after your dinner

Clubs that offer 24/7 access is open as usual, simply scan in as you would if you were training outside of the manned hours.

Total Fitness

Total Fitness opened in 1993 after being established on the Isle of Man.

It has 15 health clubs across the North of England and Wales and claims a staff of 600 people and 80,000 members.

At the time of writing Total Fitness is yet to share an update regarding Christmas opening times.

However, members can ring their specific gym ahead of time to gather more dates and details.

Similarly, members can keep an eye out both on the Total Fitness official website or across its social media channels.

Virgin Active

Virgin Active was founded in 1999 with their first club opening in Preston, Lancashire that year.

The popular fitness chain has shared its 2023 seasonal hours online, however these may vary depending on your location.
