Are gardening centres open on August Bank Holiday?
We’ve chosen some gardening centres that have several shops open on the bank holiday across the UK.
These include Dobbies, Hillier and Notcutts.
Dobbies
Opening hours for Dobbies are running as normal.
If you check out their website, you’ll find more detailed information on your nearest store.

Timings may vary from one store to another, so make sure to use their store locator tool to avoid useless travelling.
Hillier
Hillier’s garden centres are opening as usual on the August bank holiday.
They’re open 9am – 5.30pm Monday to Saturday, and 10.30am – 4.30pm on Sundays, with viewings from 10am.
Make sure to take a look at their website, to ensure that there were no last-minute changes made to the timings of the store you’re visiting.
Notcutts
Notcutts will be opening their doors to garden lovers during the August bank holiday.
The majority of the stores will be open from 10am till 5pm.

Are garden centres delivering on August Bank Holiday?

This is what we know about deliveries from the three gardening centre we already told you about.
Dobbies
Dobbies deliveries are operating on August 29, but the service is affected by the bank holiday.
The company said that deliveries continue, though there is a reduced service.
If you’re in any doubt, use their store locator to find your nearest store and ask them directly.
Hillier
Those looking for home deliveries from Hillier’s garden centres are in luck.
As well as operating with their usual hours at their stores, Hilliers are also be running online deliveries as normal.
Notcutts
For deliveries from Notcutts, you should ask the store you plan to get delivery from whether they are offering the service.
You can get in contact with them by using the Garden Centre Locator Tool on their website.
Click ‘Details’ when you find the store you want delivery from and you’ll get all the information you need to contact up the store, including their telephone number.
What are the Bank Holiday dates for 2022?
Traditionally, Brits enjoy eight bank holidays in a year across England and Wales, but by the end of this year, they will have had NINE.
The first one was on January 3, 2022 to celebrate New Year’s Day which fell on a Saturday.
Then Brits enjoyed a long weekend as they celebrated Good Friday on April 15 and Easter Sunday on April 17, 2022.
Soon after, the Early May Bank Holiday came around on May 2, 2022.
Then we had a four-day nationwide party during the Platinum Jubilee to celebrate the Queen’s 70-year reign on the throne.
Now Brits have the following dates left to maybe plan a holiday or two around:
- August 29 – Summer Bank Holiday
- December 26 – Boxing Day
- December 27 – Christmas Day (Substitute Day)
