PLAYERS are just realising that EA’s servers are down or having issues, rendering some football fans unable to get into FUT matches in FIFA 23.

The servers have been down for a number of hours, and some people are failing to enter FIFA’s most popular mode online.

Why is EA not working?

As of the early morning of September 13, 2023, users are having trouble accessing EA servers as they try to enter FIFA Ultimate Team matches, open FUT packs, and use the FUT store.

This unplanned outage does not seem to affect other FIFA modes, nor other EA games like Apex Legends, Madden NFL, or The Sims 4.

EA took to Twitter/X to acknowledge the issue with FUT and is investigating players’ reports.

As per Downdetector, reports of EA server issues peaked at around 8.15am this morning, with:

Warning to millions of Star Wars fans – Jedi: Survivor is BROKEN
Is FUT down? – Players fail to connect to FIFA 23 online
  • 79 percent of users reporting trouble with their server connection
  • 14 percent not being able to log in
  • 7 percent reporting gameplay difficulties

The FIFA down reports page shows a peak of outage reports at around 7:20am UK Time.

No estimated end times for the current FUT outage have been provided, but EA has promised to announce when FUT services are fixed and the affected users can get back online.

How to check if EA servers are working

The easiest way to see if the servers are working for you is to try to go online with the game of your choice.

There is a chance that server outages are only partial and your game may work after some time.

The other way is to check the official EA Help Twitter page which is giving live updates.

This is where people will likely find out when servers are back first.

What games are affected by the EA outage?

At the moment, it seems that only the latest FIFA game’s FIFA Ultimate Team mode is affected, and is inaccessible for some users.

Older FIFA titles, such as FIFA 18 through FIFA 22, other modes in FIFA 23, and other EA games including Apex Legends, The Sims 4, and Battlefield should be online, with no reported issues.

Oftentimes, only some games go offline during unexpected issues and outages or planned maintenance periods.

Here’s a list of EA games and modes that are experiencing downtime or server issues right now:
