THE Queen has died at the age of 96, and the nation is in mourning.

This leaves a question over what will close, and what will remain open today.
A number of sporting events have been cancelled including Premier League and EFL football matches, Cricket and horse racing.
We look at whether bookies will remain open today, and if they will open on the day of the Queen’s funeral.
Are bookies open?
Shops, including bookies, do not not have to close today.
But Ladbrokes, Coral, Betfred, William Hill and Paddy Power have all closed their doors as a sign of respect.
The Betting and Gaming Council confirmed the decision.
Many closed soon after the Queen’s death was announced and have remained shut today.
There has not yet been a decision on when they will reopen.
Some other retailers have also closed today, and others are operating reduced hours.

Will bookies close on the day of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral?
Shops will not be obliged to close on the day of the Queen’s funeral, however some may choose to do so as a mark of respect.
The Betting and Gaming Council said a decision on whether bookies will close has not yet been reached.
If the day is declared a bank holiday, then retailers may choose to operate reduced opening hours.
Today, the government advised: “Some businesses may wish to consider closing or postponing events, especially on the day of the State Funeral, however, this is at the discretion of individual businesses.”
At midday on that day, there will be two minutes’ silence across the nation.
The service will be led by the Archbishop of Canterbury and will be attended by the Royal Family, politicians and heads of state from across the globe.
The London Stock Exchange will close for England and Wales if a bank or public holiday is announced.
It is understood that the funeral will be held on September 19, but it has not been confirmed by the Palace yet.
As with shops, it is down to pubs and restaurants as to whether they close during the nation’s period of mourning.
However, it is expected that many will remain open so Brits can gather to remember the monarch.
