Anna Shay is the daughter of Edward Shay, the founder of the American defense and government services contractor, Pacific Architects and Engineers, or PAE. Edward formed the company in 1955. He was an engineer who had worked in Japan. He passed away in 1995.
Shay’s mother was Ai Oizumi Shay, a Japanese woman with a Russian grandfather. She was born on November 26, 1922, in Tokyo, Japan. Her grandfather, Alexander Stephanovich Yahovich was the Russian Ambassador to China and Japan.
