ANDROID users are being warned about a new malware scam that’s targetting online banking customers.
According to cybersecurity researchers at F5 Labs, a new scam called MaliBot is trying to bypass security features and steal your financial information.

The malware is said to disguise itself as Android cyrptocurrency mining apps.
This includes fake versions of legitimate apps like TheCryptoApp.
More than one million people have downloaded TheCryptoApp from the Google Play Store.
However, it’s those people that download the fake version of the app from a website on an Android device that put themselves at risk.
Experts have also warned about an app called Mining X.
They say the new MaliBot malware is controlled from Russia.
Experts have also warned it could delete your SMS messages, send messages and essentially take over your device.
If you do download a cryptocurrency app make sure you get it from a legitimate source.

The Google Play Store has rules about its apps but some bad ones slip through the net.
Always read the reviews and only download and use apps you trust.
If in doubt, delete the app from your phone and change any passwords and security questions you may have given away accidentally.
