SAMSUNG owners have received a free upgrade that will also be a major TV bonus.
Android 14, Google’s latest smartphone software, is making it much easier for Samsung owners to get what they’re looking at on their phone on the big screen.
Screen mirroring can now be done with Chromecast, instead of Miracast – which users claim can be difficult to use and hard to find.
Chromecast is what Google has made to let customers stream online content, such as videos and music, on a digital television.
But with the latest Android 14, Samsung owners will be able to get their telly to mirror their phone via Chromecast.
Essentially, everything their phone has on its screen will display on the TV.
It’s the perfect feature for showing friends and family holiday snaps, without crowding around a diddly screen.
Or even streaming content from the Netflix phone app without signing in on the telly (and inadvertently giving a pal your login details).
Android 14 was released on this month (August).
It brings support for screen mirroring to Chromecast directly into the regular Smart View interface, according to 9to5Google.

Previously, it had been buried deep inside Samsung’s native screen mirroring option.
While it still isn’t enable by default, it is much easier to access.
Here’s how: Settings > Connected Devices > Smart View.
Then click the three-dot overflow menu and press Settings > Labs > turn on the toggle for Chromecast support.
